5 Social Media Posts for Real Estate Agents for January

The holiday season has come to a close, and you’re ready to jump back into work. Well, so are your prospective clients.

January is the perfect month for inspiration and motivation. People love a clean slate, a new year, and fresh goals to chase.

As a real estate agent, you’re an expert on your town, and perfectly poised to offer some great suggestions to help your audience reach their new year goals.

Get ready to deliver maximum value to your social media followers in January with these 5 upbeat templates you can use for your social media posts.

#1. The New Year’s Resolution Engagement Post

Whether you believe in New Year’s Resolutions or not, many of your followers have one, and they are ready to crush their goals in this new year. So, ask your social media audience what their resolutions are for the year. Or ask what they are aiming at for this year in their businesses (depending on the make-up of your particular clientele).

Engagement is critical on social media. If you can foster conversation, your posts will show up at the top of the feed for those that engaged. Be sure to ask a question that they are excited to answer and respond to each person who comments.

For Instagram or Facebook content, include a picture with your post. You can use free stock image websites, such as Unsplash or Pixabay, to find a resolution-type picture.

You can also create a “quote post,” which is an image containing a motivational quote or interest-piquing question. Use one of the many free image editing apps  to easily create these images if you want to add your own creative touch.

Some example captions or quotes for you to use are:

  • “You are never too old to reinvent yourself” — Steve Harvey
  • “You don’t have to see the whole staircase. Just take the first step.” — Martin Luther King
  • In 2020, “Do one thing every day that scares you.” — Eleanor Roosevelt

#2. The Local Gym Recommendation Post

If you’re an avid gym-goer, then you’ve seen the number of members swell in January every year. Like clockwork, people commit to healthier lives at the start of the year, and they’re on the lookout for the best places to work out.

Share a few different types of gyms in your town, and link to them right in your social media post, so you share the love and make it easy for your followers to find the gym that’s right for them.

To link to someone’s social media page, type the @ symbol and start writing out the page title. You’ll see a drop-down list of names and you can select the gym you want.

Here are a few types of gyms and studios to include, so that you cover all your bases:

  • YMCA or local community centre
  • CrossFit Box
  • Yoga studio
  • Barre studio
  • Boxing classes
  • Everything-under-one-roof large gym

#3. The Things To Do in January Post

In northern climates, people might be getting a little stir crazy inside, hiding from the cold. Flip that mentality on its head and offer some fun, outdoorsy activities for people to check out this month in your community.

A few examples of winter wonderland activities that you could promote on your social media channels include:

  • Winter festivals
  • Outdoor skating rinks
  • Cross-country skiing trails
  • The best spots to go tobogganing

Consider also promoting the indoor events and small businesses in your community, and share a few ideas for where to go this winter season to relax, shop or get inspired:

  • Local symphony
  • Small makers markets
  • Plays and concerts
  • The best hot chocolate in town

#4. The Home Winter Maintenance Post

Share your top tips for home maintenance now that winter has set in. Even though these may be obvious to you, they likely aren’t for all of your followers.

A quick reminder to keep things in working order can save homeowners tons of money on costly repairs, if they happen to neglect their maintenance. Here’s an example post for a locale that gets a lot of snow in January:

5 Home Maintenance Musts for January:

  1. Have your furnace inspected and serviced to ensure it keeps you warm this winter.
  2. Keep on top of snow removal, both from your driveway and walkways, as well as your roof.
  3. If you have a wood-burning fireplace, make sure it’s cleaned regularly for safety.
  4. Reverse your ceiling fans to circulate warm air from heating ducts better.
  5. Test all your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors and replace the batteries if you need to.

Bonus Tip: Repurpose this caption for use in your email newsletter to current and past clients.

#5. The Helpful January Real Estate Stats Post

Finally, to drive home your expertise in your town or region, share with home buyers the local market statistics for the season.

For example, as the weather gets colder, the market may also cool down, with fewer listings available. But, explain to your audience that this could be good news for homebuyers, who could leverage low inventory to get a better price.

Every real estate agent’s market is unique, so share how your community can get the most from their home sale or purchase this month.

Like before, add a call-to-action at the end of your caption. Offer your expertise or a complimentary coffee chat about homes in the area. Here are a few examples you can use:

  • Instagram: Curious about your particular neighbourhood? Send me a DM and ask!
  • Twitter: Tweet @YourHandleHere to get your real estate questions answered.
  • Facebook: Hey Facebook Friends, wondering if now is a good time to buy or sell a home in [Your Town Here]? Send me a message to chat.
  • LinkedIn: Real estate is a local business, and I know [Your Town Here]. Send me a message to learn more about your largest asset.

Note the slight changes in tone for each platform. You can copy and paste these calls-to-action directly below your market stats, or adjust the wording slightly to represent your personality and invite in conversation.
